Gwyn Evans
Gwyneth Evans, known to most as Gwyn, is a dedicated Legal Assistant in the Care Department at Cocks Lloyd, where she has been a key member of the team for over 21 years. With approximately 16 years of experience working alongside Andrew Mathie, Gwyn has developed a deep expertise in care proceedings, specifically focusing on matters involving children, both in public and private law.
Gwyn’s journey at Cocks Lloyd began when she joined as an office junior at the age of 18. Over the years, she has worked her way up through various roles, including supporting the accounts department, managing reception, assisting with licensing, and providing secretarial support in the Criminal Department. Her diverse experience has given her a comprehensive understanding of the legal environment, making her an invaluable asset to the firm.
Currently, Gwyn serves as Andrew Mathie’s main Legal Assistant, handling all aspects of his care work cases. She is the first point of contact for all communications, managing Andrew’s emails, coordinating with Guardians, other solicitors, and court staff, and ensuring that all files are meticulously maintained. Her responsibilities include scheduling court dates, filing deadlines, and meetings, prioritising work to meet the fast-paced and demanding nature of care proceedings. Gwyn is known for her exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to oversee files even when Andrew is on leave, ensuring continuity and efficiency in every case.
Beyond her administrative duties, Gwyn plays a crucial role in ensuring that the best outcomes are achieved for the children involved in the care cases she manages. Her commitment to keeping files running smoothly and her proactive approach to problem-solving are central to her work. She also takes on additional responsibilities, such as booking courses for Andrew and acting as the main First Aider for the firm.
Gwyn loves the variety her job offers, with each day bringing new challenges and opportunities to make a positive impact. She finds it incredibly rewarding to know that her work contributes to achieving the best outcomes for children, making her role both fulfilling and meaningful.
Outside of her professional life, Gwyn enjoys reading, particularly crime novels by authors like MJ Aldridge, MW Craven, and Harlan Coben. She is also an avid rugby fan, especially enjoying the Six Nations tournament. Gwyn is actively involved in her local church, St Mary’s Abbey, where she serves as a Sidesperson, assisting with church duties and events.
