Sharon Wilkinson
Sharon, a highly respected and experienced solicitor with over 35 years of post-qualification practice, leads our Family Department. Specialising in divorce, children, and financial matters arising from relationship breakdown, Sharon is dedicated to securing the best possible outcomes for her clients.
With a compassionate and empathetic approach, Sharon understands the emotional and stressful nature of these cases. She tailors her strategy to each client’s individual needs, combining a robust approach with a practical and sensible understanding of the situation.
Possessing a keen eye for detail, Sharon has extensive experience in a wide range of financial cases, from substantial assets to more modest matters. Her ability to handle cases constructively and cost-effectively is a testament to her expertise.
A KC recently commented: ‘It is a surprisingly rare treat to be instructed so beautifully these days. You supplied clear instructions and papers containing all I could need (and nothing that I didn’t) in good time for me to do my job as best I could. And, of course, you have an iron grasp of the applicable principles (which, of course, means that the client had already received first class advice before I ever opened my mouth).’
Sharon has a particular interest and experience in farming cases, recognising the unique challenges faced during relationship breakdown.
Renowned for her expertise in complex children’s matters, Sharon represents parents, grandparents, and children directly involved in court proceedings, including those involving social services.
As a member of Resolution, Sharon is committed to constructive dispute resolution. While she excels in negotiation and resolving contentious issues, she also has significant experience in family court litigation and understands when court intervention is necessary.
Joining Cocks Lloyd in 1987 and qualifying as a solicitor in 1989, Sharon has dedicated her career exclusively to family law. She became a partner in 1992 and assumed leadership of the department in 1996. Under her guidance, the department has established an enviable reputation for providing exceptional service in all areas of family law.
Sharon has a diverse client base, regularly receiving referrals from professional contacts and by way of referral from former clients.
Sharon is proud to be a member of the Law Society Family Law Advanced Accreditation Scheme and the Law Society Children Law Accreditation Scheme, demonstrating her commitment to maintaining a high level of knowledge and experience in her practice area.
